Ted Talks are a great way to learn about things that you might not otherwise consider. While procrastinating a while, I stumbled across Simon Sinek’s talk about the golden circle. Here’s a link to the talk.
The presentation got me to think about why 55Living does what it does. Why do any of us do what we do? I believe in working hard and getting the job done to the best of my abilities. (Something I learned the hard way in a 5th grade teacher conference.) But what is it that really drives me? What is it that gets me out of bed in the morning? Why do I do the things that drive me out of my comfort zone?
WHY 55LIVING WORKS
I am a people pleaser. I have a strong desire to make the people around me happy. More specifically I believe that happiness starts from within, and those around us support our happiness. And the more people that are around us, supporting us, the happier we all will be.
Having spent time with families in all different types of retirement communities, I’ve learned that families living in communities are happier, more enthusiastic, more light hearted and more engaged than those who aren’t. When you ask someone who has recently moved to a retirement community whether they like it or not, they say they love it. They usually say they should have moved years ago. They are happier than they have ever been.
I believe their happiness stems at least in some part from the lifestyle that the community affords them. Their unit within the community and their care plan are important factors as well but the lifestyle choice is the key.
At 55Living, everything we do centers around the belief that families thrive when they live in a community.
We know that community living is not for everyone. Some people are perfectly comfortable living in the home that they have lived in for most of their lives. They plan to use home care to resolve future care needs. And as a pleaser, I am not interesting changing their beliefs. But if you believe, as we do, that happiness is most easily gained by living in a community of like-minded, similarly situated individuals and families, than 55Living is for you.
Don’t just take my word for it! Contact 55Living to learn more about how we can help you find the perfect retirement community and lifestyle.
